Government completes prerequisite setups for construction of VETA Bukoba

The government of Tanzania has accomplished setups of essential infrastructural requirements for commencement of the China government funded 20-billion shillings project for construction of Bukoba Regional Vocational Training and Service Centre (VETA Bukoba), the regional vocational training centre for Kagera.

Tanzania government was required to do some groundwork including improvement of the road towards the site, building structures for electricity and water and ensuring connection of the same to the site before the China government engages a contractor for construction of the planned vocational training centre.

The Minister for Education, Science and Technology Prof. Joyce Ndalichako declared accomplishment of the task on Saturday, 26 January 2019 when she inspected the site at Burugo area during which she also inaugurated the mini and temporary water source constructed by Bukoba district authorities in collaboration with the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA).

Speaking after inauguration of the water source, Prof. Ndalichako said that the government has done its part and now hopes for quick procurement of contractor and thereafter construction to start soon as the people of Kagera have been eagerly waiting to see the training centre completed.

“I believe the procurement of the constructor will be accomplished immediately so that the construction starts. The Kagera people have been waiting for their regional VETA centre for a long time. The road was poor, we have improved it, there was no electricity now we have connected, there was no water but today I have launched this water source meant for construction activities. That means all of the tasks which the government was supposed to do before commencement of the construction work have been accomplished,” she said.

She expressed appreciation for the efforts done by VETA and Bukoba district officials to facilitate construction of the road, structures for power connection and for tapping water from the natural source.
Also she thanked people residing around the site for the cooperation which they have shown during construction of those initial structures and asked them to continue with the same spirit as the project is for their benefits
